Should I leave my kids at a daycare/preschool near my home or near my work?
We chose a daycare close to home. I drop off on my way going west from home and my husband picks up on his way coming north from work. If one of us is home sick, someone isn't going out of their way to get to the day care. Our daycare friends live close to us. Our parents, who live 2 hours away, can find the daycare if they need to. My daughter isn't spending a lot of time in the car. Our pediatrician is close to home, too, so picking up for a dr.'s visit is easy.
One reason why I can think you might choose to keep an infant close to you is if you want to try breastfeeding on your lunch break. If your child gets sick, you can get to them faster (I'm 30 minutes from my daughter). But you might change jobs (which I did), and then you would have to change daycare.
