What's your routine for staying in shape?

I just saw some "fat" pictures of myself, and it really shook me up-I need to get in shape!

How do you manage taking care of your kids and finding time for exercise?

I wouldnt say I'm in shape but what I do is eat very light during the week, a few small meals and snacks a day and then eat whatever I want on the weekend.  While I'm brusing my teeth I do leglifts.  I try to get to the gym a couple times a week.

Hi!  I had this same problem and started T.O.T. Fitness, a stroller exercise class for moms and babies to help moms answer this question.  Not sure if Beverly Hills or West Hollywood are convenient for you, but email me if they are :)

Otherwise, finding time to small things throughout the day are great.  For example, if you're baby is playing on the floor do some crunches or push ups.  Use your baby as a weight as well.  And walk, walk, walk if you're not a jogger or runner.  The best suggestion for food is to eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day.  Just as you take snacks for your child, take snacks for yourself too!

Please contact me if you have any questions.

I always used to be an outdoor exerciser - running was my staple with some biking, swimming & soccer.  After several years with not much but a little soccer, my husband and I finally broke down and joined a gym.  It's been great for us so far.  They have great childcare with scheduled activities for the kids.  I can go in the mornings with my 3-yr old and they may have arts & crafts, dough fun, the bubble machine, or another activity going on.  I am now scheduled to go every Friday at 5:00 PM because that's when they have the Taikwando class for my older son.  Everything's included, and the kids make sure we go!  My husband got started going at lunchtime, and now we make it a family event a couple of times a week.  We're all excited about getting in shape again, and that motivates us to start eating better.

I must say that it makes a HUGE difference for me to have my husband signed on to the get-in-shape goal with me.  Before kids, we did all our workouts together.  Over the past few years, every time I've made a push to start getting back in shape again, I've been very much on my own in my efforts, and it hasn't lasted.  I'm very excited that we're doing this together again, and, at this point in my life, the gym is the perfect place for me to start.
