I have been taking my 3 year old to Salon Familia in Chevy Chase, mostly because I needed a place where we could both get our hair done at once and they have cute little play areas he waits in while I get my cut. But they are far away! If anyone can suggest a closer place, I'd be much obliged. Bonus if it's a place I can get a cut too, though not required.  

Hi Sara! We love Genie who is located right by the Whole Foods in Downtown Silver Spring. She is absolutely wonderful for both adults and kids. She will put on PBS or a movie for the kids while I get my hair cut. It is like taking my kids to Cartoon Cuts but she's much more reasonable and reliable.

There is a Cartoon Cuts in Rockville at the Congressional Plaza I have heard great things about.  They are always having specials and all the local magazines have coupons for them.  Every third Thursday of the month, there is a Mommy & Me event from 10-12 in the Plaza and that  is a great time to meet the staff and check out their services.

I love Jillian of Jillian's Hair Design for adults and kids. 

She gives me a better cut than I would know how to request and she makes my kid look as cool as Maddox Jolie.  But he always wants the lolly and TV that come with Cartoon Cuts and is so well-behaved for it that that's where I take him.  He could care about the scalp massage. Sigh.
