New York City Crib to Bed When did everyone switch from crib to bed? I just put my 2 1/2 year old into a bed. Feels strange having him with full access to my apartment while I am asleep. 	My son went to a bed at 2yr old and it was weird too. We'd often find him roaming the halls at night with a nightmare. It was great because he could come to our bed! You will get used to it by the time he is 3. Flag

	We put one of those clear gates across his open doorway so he knew he had to stay in his room, but he was comfortable to know we were around. (We had the other kind of gate, but he could climb over everything.) And my son was 17 months old because we needed his crib for a new baby. Flag

	I switched my son at 2 1/2 and he was so proud of his "big boy bed" that he stayed in it happily. Better than in the crib!! Flag
