Hi Everyone!

I'm a stay at home mom in the Boston area to my son Udo - a 13 month old rascal. I'm a first time mom in my late 30's, so initially it was a bit of a culture shock going from the working world to the 24/7 baby world.

Would love to hear from other stay at home moms about their experiences adjusting to this lifestyle. I think the challenge - aside from learning how to care for and keep up with a rapidly developing wee one is learning to let go of some priorities and learning how to find myself amid the day-to-day baby chaos. (Sometimes I still mourn my adult life - quietly reading the NY Times all the way through, having a non-baby related conversation, working at something other than housework and childcare...) What was challenging to you? What have you learned along the way? Would love to hear from you!

I think the most challenging thing for me switching from the working world to the baby world has been the loneliness.  At work I was surrounded by lots of people and there was constant conversation.  When I found myself home with just the baby I realized I missed that adult communication and connection.  When my son turned four months, I knew I had to get out of the house and do stuff! I began to seek out other moms who had similar interests to me.  I don't think I could have survived these last two years of motherhood without other mothers to help maintain my sanity.
