My daughter was born 8/11/04, so I'm planning to have her start kindergarten when she's 5-I know, some people hold back, but this girl is ready NOW! =)

What is your approach to choosing a school going to be?  Have you started looking?

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't "behind" what other people are doing...

My daughter will turn 5 on Feb.of '09, and she will be attending a public school Kindergarten, along with her big sister.

Our school here in Howard County, MD is GREAT!  And she knows some of the teachers already another ++.

There are so many private/public schools to choose from.  My daughter is currently attending a CO-OP preschool.

If you are not familar with this term it means that the parents help out in the class room and hold positions on the board etc..  What I like about the school is that it is a convient drive from my house.  The down side is that you have to be on call to sub if you are on the schedual. Also, my daughters teacher doesn't always follow the daily routine.  I personaly feel that this is confusing to a child.  Children need  a routine, it may be borring to us, the parent, but children feel more secure when they know what comes next. At conference time the teacher was more intrested in "selling" us books and telling us what field trips the children were going to take then in my childs actual conference.

Next year my daughter will attend a Methodist Preschool.  It is a bit further from my house, but the class rooms are bigger, there is no co-oping, and the teacher's stick to a routine.

Hope I was of some help.
