Has your child ever bit you?  Mine did the other day.  She is a little over 2 and I was in such shock I didn't even know how to respond.  How do you handle that situation (besides telling them biting is not okay)?

My cousin bites her kids back and although thats what I would feel like doing I have heard thats a big no no.  Usually when my child hurts me I just walk away and say "mommy won't play with you if you hurt me", and then I can try to get an apology.  Usually my voice and removing myself from the area is enough to upset my mama attached toddler and send him to tears!

That is good advice, thank you!  We were out to lunch so I removed her and gave her a time out away from the table.  She wound up pitching such a fit I wanted to die because we were in public!

ugh. Good question. Mine only did that a few times and it was not out of frusteration. It was excitement. It was such a shock all I did was yell "NO".

I have a 2 1/2 year old who just bit a boy in preschool.  They were fighting and he was taunting her.

We told her (calmly) that biting is NEVER OK.  We asked her how she would feel if this boy bit her.  (sad) and we didn't get to go to the park that day.

My older kid bit when he was so excited that he couldn't express himself.  We countered this (when we saw it about to happen) with a huge, squeezy hug.  Gets the adrenaline released, which is what the biting also did for him.  Hope that helps.

I am so tired of this. Seems like my one twin is biting the other all the time. I tell him no and put him in time out. He knows what he did cause he goes and gives it a kiss. I can't get this to stop though.
