Isabel is now 14 months old and we go shopping for her every couple of months for clothes that actually fit her.  We went out last weekend and found cute clothing (size 24 months- 3T) for her but when I went to put on her capris this morning, they wouldn't go past her thighs.  So I tried the larger size and they wouldn't either.  Isabel currently weighs 30 lbs.  She is not overweight, she has always been bigger than other children her age.  But her thighs and her butt are thick.  The jeans that we found fit her best (and we bought 4 of) were from Babies R' US , the koala collection...and they are boys jeans because the girls are too tight in her problem areas.  What do I do???  Does it mean she can only wear boys jeans?  Does anyone know where I can find clothing for thicker, chunkier girls (cute clothes). She can get away with larger clothing in the winter time but what about the summer???  Please help..

I've got a similar problem. My 7-month-old is in 12-month clothes. She is also pretty round, so jeans are a problem.

I really don't think it's a problem to be buying boys jeans at this point. Every baby is built differently, just like every person is different. I'd just buy things in separates, so that you can make sure that the bottoms are the right size. It might also work to use pants that aren't jeans, so that they have more flexibility. My mother-in-law found some very cute outfits and JCPenney's on sale - they're dress-style tops so they go down a little longer and cover her tummy, and the bottoms are elastic-waist shorts. They are very cute and look adorable on my daughter!

Old Navy, online or in store has clothing that fits nicely.  Also Naartjie, online, these are adorable and the they are prewashed/dyed and shrunk so if it fits in store it will fit after washing too.  I also like Carter's, the stuff at Target is cheap and makes great play clothes.  I would stay away from denim because it does not stretch or breathe, you should put her in cotton or linen (type) pants that have more stretch.  I have problems with denim shorts on my daughter but if you find a soft denim it usually fits.  My Isabel is 15 months and is starting to get too tall for her clothes and with some t-shirts she has too much of a buddha belly and grows out of them very quickly.  Good luck and I hope you find something.
